This is a drawing of an antique Pocket watch movement published in an encyclopedia dating back to 1891. This type of movement uses Verge Escapement and a Fusse. Verge Escapement movement is the earliest mechanism used in clocks and pockets watches as early as 14th century and down to 18th century. The root of the term verge can be traced back to the lating word "virga" which simply means stick or rod. In the picture "f" and "h" show the verge espcapement mechanism. Fusse is basically a cone shaped pulley which in idicated by "b" in this drawing. The fusse is attached to a a mainspring barrle which is indicated by "a" in the drawing.
